A recent and very rare fatal shark attack in the waters off of Solana Beach Ca. this week has resulted in stepped up beach patrols for our helicopter.  As part of our regular patrol duties we have always patrolled San Diego's coastline from the San Diego city limits near Torrey Pines, to Oceansice Ca.  This includes the coastal communities of Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas, Carlsbad and Oceanside.  This is some of the most beautiful coastline in the country, much of it dotted with multi-million dollar homes.  So in addition to looking for swimmers & surfers in distress we will now add Great White Sharks to our list.
