Rescue at Cedar Creek Falls

Sundays are a day for rescues.  Everyone is out hiking in San Diego's back country.  Cedar Creek Falls, just east of Ramona Ca., is a very popular hiking destination.  Over the years our aviation unit has performed hundreds of rescues from Cedar Creek Falls.  Yesterday evening we received a call of a broken ankle at the falls.  We located the group attempting to hike out on the Ramona side, with the victim, a 12 year old girl.  I found an LZ near the trail below the victim.  With the help of her family, my partner had the ankle splinted and her loaded in the back seat of our MD 530F in just a few minutes.  A short flight later and she was delivered to paramedics at the top of the hiking trail.  A perfectly good use of a rotorcraft flying machine on a beautiful Sunday afternoon!
